Morning News: May 11, 2020

Morning Routine: (oral)

Today is May 11. Let's count to 11. Ready count!

Repeat after me: Today is Monday, May 11, 2020.

What day is today? What day was yesterday? What day is tomorrow?

What month is it? What was last month? What month comes next?

What kind of weather is it outside today?

Today is the 152nd day of school! Count by tens to 100 and then count by tens to 50! Add 2 more! 152! *If we were using our straws to count, we would have 100 straws rubber band together in the hundreds column, 5 groups of 10 (50 straws) in the tens column, and 2 straws in the ones column.

It is the month of MAY!
HERE are the months of the year songs where you will find May.

This week you will learn TWO new RED WORDS! Your new red words are: come, what Please add the words come and what to your red word poster at home.
Red Word Review
Write your new red words 3x each with a red crayon. Make your new red words with play-doh, legos, trace them in sand! Whatever you can do!
At some point this week (does not have to be today), please have your child practice writing our first 15 red words. You may print out the red word paper below, or use a plain piece of paper and number it 1-15. I will read each red word out loud. Students should write the red word on the line. Parents, please DO NOT help. This is NOT a true assessment, but will help me gauge which words we need to spend more time on. Please send me a picture of the completed paper when you get a chance. Again, it can be any day this week.
