Week of June 15-19, 2020


Perform these activities in a safe, secure location, supervised by an adult:
Select three or four warm-up exercises. Remember always warm up in a safe environment, clear of anything that might get in your way.  When you decide on your activity, practice social distancing and remember that your partner can be a parent or a sibling.  Check out the links below to videos on Go Noodle. 

If your parents allow it, Ms. Janowski and Mr. Kuizema would love to see pictures of you exercising and having fun.

Objective: Basic Movement Skills   Standard 2.5 (2) A.1-4

Muscle Stretching and Fitness Development K-4

Jumping Jacks 10 - 20x
Arm Circles forward/backward 10x each way
Toe Touches (feet together, walk fingers down to toes, hold for 10 - 20 seconds)
Calf Stretch - stand with legs together, raise up and down on toes 10 - 20x
Lunges - legs apart, lean to left, lean on knee, hold for 10 seconds, repeat to right
Trunk Twisters - feet apart, hands on hips, twist to left, twist to right, 10 - 20x
V-sit - sit with lets in "V" formation, 12" apart, reach with two  hands to left, middle, right for 10 seconds each. Keep legs straight, toes pointed up
Ankle/Calf stretches - seated on floor, extend both legs in front of body. Flex toes for 10 seconds, stretch toes for 10 seconds
Finger Extensions - fingers in and out 10x
Wrist Rolls - rotate wrists in circular motion 10x
Neck Stretches - circle head in a slow, controlled circular motion to left and to right 10x each

Additional exercises for Grades 3 - 4:
15 sit-ups
15 push-ups
15 Burpee squat-thrusts

Physical Activities: Students should be active for a minimum of 150 minutes/week. Below are some suggested activities:

Go outside and shoot basketballs or play knock-out with a family member who lives in your house; practice dribbling, count how many times in a row you make a basket
Toss and catch a ball with a family member who lives in your house; bounce a ball with one hand, then the other
Roll/toss a ball at a designated target.  Create a point system, keep score.
Create a dance routine to music using some of the stretching movements listed above
Play a sports game on Wii (if you have one)
Practice dribbling a soccer ball
Tap a beach ball or a balloon in the air, count how many times in a row you can hit it before it hits the ground.
Volley a beach ball or balloon in the air with a partner. Count how many times in a row you can hit it before it hits the ground.
Jump Rope
Yoga
Hula-hoop
Hopscotch
Boxball
Bocci ball
Play catch with a frisbee. Create a target and have a contest to see how close you can toss the frisbee to the target.


Things to do with adult supervision:
Play tennis or badminton with your parents or siblings
Create a fitness program including: hop, skip, jump, bend, sit-up, push-up, jumping jack and balance on one foot for 15 seconds


Parents, please discuss Attitudes and Values with your children including:
Demonstrating positive feelings toward safety; demonstrating good sportsmanship; demonstrating a positive attitude and behavior toward themselves and others; appreciating physical activities as an avenue for self expression; demonstrating a knowledge of rules which enhances the success of the activity; understanding the importance of maintaining physical fitness; and appreciating physical activity for promoting mental and physical well-being.
 
Parents, please discuss the following topics with your child: the dangers of drugs, the positives of using parent/doctor prescribed medicine, and the importance of exercise/proper diet.

Parents: please make a notation of which activities your child completes and return it to the Physical Education teachers upon return to school.  Thank you!
