“Be Kind” By: Pat Zietlow Miller and Jen Hill
Think: What can you do to be kind at home? At school? Make a list of ways to be kind.
Act: Try doing one kind thing a day for a week. Draw pictures of what you did to be kind

Happy Place
1. Close your eyes and imagine a place that makes you feel happy, calm, and safe.
2. Breathe in and breathe out gently.
3. Think about how calm you feel.
4. Imagine your favorite place. What do you see? Are you somewhere warm or cold? Is it night time or in the early morning.
5. What do you hear?
6. What do you smell?
7. Breathe in gently through your nose and out through your mouth.
Activity 3
What is Gratitude?
Practicing gratitude means taking the time to reflect on the things we are really thankful for. This includes the big things in life, like our family and friends, and the smaller things, like music or your favorite shirt. If you focus on the positive things in life, you are more likely to feel happy.
Activity: Make a list of 10 things you are grateful for and share it with someone at home.

Questions to think about:
1. What is self-compassion?
2. Think about a time you have gotten mad at yourself.
3. Do you think it is easier to be kind to yourself or others? Why?

5. How can you spread love and kindness into the world?
Activity: Write some kind words to yourself. This can be a letter, drawings of kind words, or positive statements. Say them out loud to yourself.

What is Gratitude?
Gratitude means feeling thankful and appreciative for what you already have. By recognizing what we are grateful for, we can multiply our happiness and our well-being. In some ways, it's just common sense. By focusing on the positive things in your life, you end up feeling better.
Gratitude isn't just being thankful for the big things in your life, though. It's about learning to notice all the little things that happen that you can be happy about too.
Let's practice. Make a quick list of at least 3 things that you are thankful for today:
