Fluency Friends- Wednesday Group

Have you ever met Blazer Fresh on Go Noodle? This group is one of my favorites; I think they do an excellent job reminding us to read fluently, check it out: Blazer Fresh: Don't Read Like A Robot

I suggest you watch this video a second or third time so you can dance and sing along!

You should have finished your comprehension questions for the story you worked on last week.  If you have, please count how many words are in your retelling and record that number on the bottom right hand corner of the page. (If you did not finish your comprehension work, do this today!)

Read your story to warm up.  Are you ready to be timed? If not, practice reading again until you feel prepared for a smooth reading.

Ask someone at home to listen to you read.  Have them grab some scrap paper and a timer.  As you read, they should tally any mistakes you make for one minute.  When one minute is up, have them mark where you finished reading.  Count how many words you read in one minute.  Subtract the number of errors made and you will have the number of words you read correctly in one minute.  This should be recorded at the bottom of the page. Email me to let me know how many words you read correctly per minute and I will assign your next learning task!

Your audio files for your story are posted in our Fluency Friends Google Classroom.

LLI Students- There are 2 groups, A & B.
You are in Group A if the first letter of your first name is A,B or R.
You are in Group B if the first letter of your name is D,M, or S.

LLI Group A:

Choose a familiar story in your bag to read as a warm up. Can’t decide?  Find Bunny and the Monster to read for your warm up.

Today you will be reading a new story.  Find My Five Senses in your book bag.  Can you name what part of your body you use to see with, to hear with, to touch with, to taste with, and to smell with?  These are your senses. When you read this book, you will find out how this girl uses her senses at the park.

When you are finished reading, tell someone about your reading.  What happened in this book?

Additional Task/Optional:

Send Miss Brown an email and tell her how you used each of your five senses today!

LLI Group B:
Choose a familiar story in your bag to read as a warm up. Can’t decide?  Find Goldie and the Three Bears to read for your warm up.

Today you will be reading a new story.  Find Lizzy in your book bag.  Can you imagine if you had a pet, such as a hamster or bird, that got out of its cage? Take a picture walk and look at the pictures in this story.  You’ll see Ben and Anna have a missing lizard! Read to find out how Ben and Anna got Lizzy back into her cage.

When you are finished reading, tell someone about your reading.  What happened in this book?

Additional Task/Optional:

Send Miss Brown an email and tell her two places Lizzy could hide in your house.
