Watch the video below to learn about emotions!

Questions to think about:
1. Which emotion are you feeling right now? 2. What can you do when you are feeling grumpy? 3. What can you do when you are feeling sad?

Activity: Make a list of all the things that make you happy. Share this list with someone at home!

Activity 2 Emotions Part 2 Watch the video below and try to guess the feeling! ____________________________________

Questions to think about:  1. How does a person’s face change based on their emotion? 2. How does a person’s body change based on their emotion? 3. Which of these emotions are you feeling the most right now?

Activity:

Fold a piece of paper in half two times, so that the paper is divided into four sections. Write one of the following emotions in each square: happy, sad, worried, and angry. Draw a picture of yourself showing each emotion. Activity 3 Mindful Breathing

 

Activity 4 “The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes” By: Mark Pett and Gary Rubinstein Questions to think about: 1. How do you feel about making mistakes? 2. Were you ever afraid of something but you did it anyway? What made you try something scary? 3. Beatrice “felt her stomach jumping around inside her.” How do you think she is feeling? How do you know? 4. In your opinion, which is more important: learning from your mistakes or being perfect? Activity:

Fold a piece of paper in half. On one side, draw or write about a mistake you have made. On the other side, draw or write the lesson you learned from your mistake. Activity 5 What is a Growth Mindset? ___________________________________

Questions to think about while watching: 1. Why does Mojo want to leave school? Can you sometimes relate to how Mojo is feeling? 2. What does Katie say to Mojo to convince him not to leave? 3. Do you think Mojo can become smarter? Why or why not? 4. What subject do you feel frustrated by sometimes? Can you see yourself becoming smarter in that subject? How?

Activity 6
“Wilma Jean the Worry Machine” By: Julia Cook
 

Questions to think about:

  1. What are some of the worries that Wilma Jean has? Can you relate to her worries?
  2. What happens to Wilma Jean when she worries?
  3. What did Wilma Jean’s teacher do to help Wilma Jean with her worrying?
  4. Why is sorting our worries (like Wilma Jean’s teacher did) helpful?

Activity:

Make a list of your worries and write them down/talk to an adult about what you can do when you feel worried (ex. Take deep breaths, take a quick walk, think of something funny, use positive self-talk (“I can do this”), talk to an adult, use a stress ball)

Activity 7

Letting the Worries Go

Having trouble letting go of the worries? Try these strategies: 1. Set a 3-minute timer. During those 3 minutes, think about the worries all you want. When the timer goes off, worry time is over! Get up, move to a new space, and think of something else! 2. Write your worries on a piece of paper. Tear or crush it up and then throw your worries away in the trash can.
